Detoxing your bathroom is easier than it seems and is great for your health. When I started to switch out my products, it was a nightmare because I wanted it all done in one night. I learned that it was going to take time, a lot of patience, and research. Below I will save you some time and give you non-toxic replacements for your bathroom.
When it comes to skincare products it is so important to make sure they are toxin-free, Anything that goes on your skin travels through your body from your pores and into your bloodstream. That it is key to have clean soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc.
Just as it is important to get toxin-free for anything that goes on your skin, the same goes for things that go in the mouth. Toothpaste has been shown to be a major endocrine disruptor, especially for the thyroid. Choosing fluoride-free is needed when buying toothpaste.
The one thing that I totally missed when changing my bathroom to toxin-free was the shower curtain. It wasn’t until recently I was giving my baby a bath in his toxin-free tub when my dad asked me what am I going to do when he starts taking a shower. He told me that I had a toxic shower liner and then the lightbulb went off. That day I was shopping online for a cloth shower liner. The reason for switching the liner is because when your shower gets hot chemicals from a plastic shower curtain are being inhaled. Along with my liner, I always have a shower filter so I am not inhaling all the toxins from the tap water. You can find the filter by clicking here!
What you wipe your booty with is more important than you think! Most toilet paper brands are more focused on quantity than quality. Just like other products, toilet paper can be filled with chemicals. For women, this can be a big problem. One of the worst chemicals used in the processing of toilet paper is chlorine.
Three ingredients that cause harm in toilet paper:
- Toxic additives
- Bleaching with chlorine
- Recycled paper and surprise contaminants–bisphenols (BPA & BPS)
For me, I like choosing toilet paper made with no chemicals and from bamboo.
What you inhale enters your body and can cause damage if it is toxic. This is why I tell people that are into essential oils to make sure they are choosing a trustworthy brand. When you want to freshen up your bathroom make sure you are staying away from toxic air fresheners and candles. Many candles and air freshers are very bad for your body to inhale. If you would like to look at the oils I use you can click here. I provide a 5% discount for Plant Therapy oils.
I promise you that keeping your house non-toxic may become a headache, but it is totally worth your time. Your body will thank you later.
